I have two boats that I am looking at buying and I can;t make my mind up which on to get I need so oppnions here. They are both for the same price by the way

The first one is a 2006 22 tournament that is in great condition. It has a 1999 trailer that might need to be replaced. It has a 2003 250HP Yamaha HPDI that has 112 hours on it and the gauges are going to have to be replaced because they are for the previous four stoke that got stolen off the boat. Boat is in excellent condition though.

The other boat is a 2004 19 Grady White tournament that has a yamaha 200HP Four Stroke with 220 hours on it. This boat has a very nice trailer and has all the bells and whistles on it.

The main thing that it comes down to is the engines. How much nicer is a four stroke and how nice is a HPDI. I of course rather have the 22 because it's bigger but do you'll think I am going to have any problems with that motor or how loud is it going to be.
Thanks for your time and oppnions

I have owned a 19 tournament and it is a nice boat. The 225 feels much bigger as I have been on one. As far as the engines go, the 250 hpdi was Yamaha's nightmare engine. I talked to a friend of mine the other day who just blew his up again with just under 100 hours. Yamaha wants to give him 5K towards purchase of 4 stroke. I would steer clear of the 250 hpdi and the resale is not going to be good with it either.

See if you can buy the 22' w/ trailer but w/out the engine... Then go put a Merc on it. :)

I would go with the 22'. Sea trial both boats to see how they handle. I would want a four stroke motor same age or newer than the boat, re sale will be much more difficult with the older motor.

Why do that? It's going from a motor that might eat itself to one which probably will ... :D

Simmer down, it's a joke ... :?

You are comparing apples and grapefruits, these two boats are a world apart in performance. If you have not already purchased, buy a 22 or a 205 the 19 is too small.

As for the 22 you are looking at, don't buy someone else’s mistake unless it is priced so well that you can replace the engine. I would look hard at the 22 if you do pull the trigger as the selection of a replacement engine tells me something about the way the owner deals with his boats, and it is not good.

My suggestion, keep looking.
