I have a question about my '88 Grady White Gulfstream 23.

I replaced both tanks last winter. I did not replace the fill hose or the vent hose as they look fine (I could not see 100 percent of them, but what I could see was OK). The question is: When I fill up the main tank, the gas does not flow well and sometimes gas comes back up (link a slight kink or blockage?). But what has me confused is that gas comes out of the vent on the side of the boat as well. Are these tubes connected in some way, in the area that I cannot see in the gunwale? Next step will be to replace the hoses but I will have to cut an access panel in the gunwale. That is another reason I did not replace to being with. BTW the other tank has no problems filling up.

your vent line is either blocked or has a belly in it. same thing happened to my brand new '02. the weight of the new 4 strokes resulted in a fuel tank reconfiguration, but the parts assemblers were probably still cutting to the old config. i had a foot or so of excess vent hose. once the dealer cut it out, fuel flowed without backup. good luck, ron
