Sorry for the dumb question but is this 17 or 18 foot boat. I have seen it advertised both ways. Thanks

Griff: The 175 had a length of 17'5", a beam of 7'5" and weighed 1500 lbs.

I don't recall the year, but the 180 just stretched the length by 5" to 17'10", kept the beam at 7'5" and the basic layout remaind the same. The weight went up to 1800 lbs. on the 180.

Rob, I have owned both the 17 spirit and the 18 sportsman. Actually, there is quite a bit of difference in the two. The 18 sportsman has the variable deadrise sea V2 hull and the 17 spirit did not. The weight difference was also significant, a little over 600lbs (2150 on the 18 without the engine). Max HP for the spirit was 115 if I remember correctly and is 150 HP for the 18 sportsman or tournament. The fuel tank in the 18 is 60 gallons and around 30 in the spirit 17. I liked both boats as the 17 worked a little better around the flats and the 18 allowed you to get offshore on a good day.

the 175 has a 48 gallon tank and rides very "Big" for a 17 ft boat. However, the 180 is a whole different class...It wuns very big for an 18 foot boat....Feels more like a 20......

I bought my son a used 175 (1993) last year and it's a tank......We did a little refitting over the winter and it came out great. My Brother in law bought a 1997 whaler (Outrage) last year about the same time....nice boat, but nowhere near as good as the GW. Slower, rougher, narrower......Still, a nice boat but the 175 blows it away....
