New Grady owner here. My 7th boat but first Grady. Been searching old threads and doing my research. If someone could chime in that has a 226. Need to put a motor on. Seen some posts about guys concerned about 4s weight at the transom. Anyone every repower with a new 4s Zuke. I'd hate to get a used 2s.

No one got an idea. Yikes. It seems the suzuki dealers don't know either. I really want the 250 but I dont want 6 inches of water in the back of the boat. Plus I have a roller trailer with no real transom support. For some reason I keep seeing myself leaving the 25000 outboard and the transom on the highway.

I put a Suzuki DF250 on my 1999 228 Seafarer and it’s just fine, a little different boat than yours with the factory pod. A little bit of water will come up through the scuppers on the kicker side when somebody stands there but otherwise very dry with the motor as it weighs over 600lbs and the kicker is 110 lbs

Any chance you can take a pic of what yours looks like in the water? Curious if the scuppers are submerged or not with all that weight.

Thanks Don. That gives me some peace of mind. I would imagine the effect would be worse on yours with the bracket. Im going without a kicker for now.

Unfortunately it won’t be in the water for a while to get good pictures but I do have some pictures from this summer that I will attach they may not show the scuppers very well unfortunately

You might be able to see the water line mark, especially around the trim tab area (assuming you have tabs)

Well,
If the scupper height is original, then yea it can get wet with a 4 stroke.
I raised mine so it's bone dry back there no matter how many people are with me.
