My 2000 200hp engine is leaking oil when the engine is tilted. The oil gushes dropped by 2 bars. Engine runs great. I can’t see where the oil is leaking from. Thanks.

Did you check the oil reservoir or the cap on it? Hairline crack near the top or a leaky cap would do it.

If the float switch in the main tank (engine mounted) is properly adjusted, the oil level shouldn’t be near the top of the tank. With the cowling off, you could draw that tank down below the “Minimum” line, and let it run through a refill cycle, to see if it is overfilling.

What year and model is the motor?
Explain what you mean by 'leaks when tilted" Some 2 stroke model develop a leak in the oil tank sender fitting that causes the motor to leak oil when the motor is tilted up. The oil pools in the lower cowling so you dont see a leak on your driveway for example but when the motor is lowered, the oil runs down into the mid section and will cause a sheen on the water.
Some older 2 stroked use the tilt sensor to enable/disable the remote oil pump. If the tilt signal is wrong the pump can run continuously and overflow the main oil tank on the motor.. I don't remember what model years used the tilt sensor signal.

I checked the oil sensor cap and it needed to be reseated. Once I did that it stopped leaking. Thanks.

It’s a 2000. Model sx200txtry. It’s leaking at the oil sensor cap.

Thats a common spot for a leak. There are a few things you can try.
First is to pop the sender and clean the neck of the tank and the inside of the cap.
Make sure that the cap aligns with any tabs in the neck.
See how that works out.
Using a zip tie around the sides of the cap can help seal it but you must be certain that the cap is aligned properly.

I just cleaned the cap and neck I put it back in and added a zip tie left the motor tilted and did not find any more leaks. Thanks.
