I am wanting to replace the gas struts in the rigging station on my 2001 Grady 306. They are Ameritool and appear to be 625-2 which measures 7.5" OAL and 5.25" compressed. The problem is I do not know the lifting force I need. Anyone know?

remove it, put one end on a bathroom scale, and push down on it and see what the scale says

Funny, that's what I did already but mine won't hold the lid up anymore. The bad ones take a little over 20# to compress. If I had a good one to test....

Actually, it takes over 20# to compress but only 12# to keep it compressed

if the strut has failed, the scale measurement won't work correctly.
I suspect that the rating for the model number given is 20 pounds.
The OP also mentioned the word strutS ( more than one)
If there are two each would be rated at half the lift load. So if the load was 40 pounds, two 20 pound struts be appropriate.

You could remove the movable part of the bait station and weigh that piece.

A couple notes from my experience: The Ameritool struts are better than Taylor as they are fully SS as opposed to Taylor which have plastic ends which tend to break on occasion. 60# for sure but see you already found that out.

@RayBlackman
You are talking about the two covers for sink and livewell?

If you did not already ordered, i may have italian struts ones on my new to me 2011 Canyon and they have usually the load written on the struts. I can check that today in the afternoon (morning in US) when i go to the Marina.
I understand that GW should know, but on first sight i am a bit surprised about 60 lbs lifting force as this two small covers don't weight a lot.

I wrote in the wrong tread, however that's the one who died today and has GW 10-0191/30# written on it.

@RayBlackman
Did the ones you ordered at Maxum worked correctly?

Thanks so much!
Chris
