2005 Grady White 208 : new f200i4 + trailer + elec + ...

Hi ,
I'am starting a new thread about my grady 208 project.

I will do 3 things :
1) Change the outboard
2) Change the trailer (NEED HELP)
3) Change electronics
4) Some more little modifications


1) Change the outboard
I'am going to repower the boat .
Actually he is powered with an old yamaha V6 3.3 225hp .
I think i will choose the new F200 i4 outboard ....

I compare the f200 i4 with the F250 v6 4.2L

Do you know witch size of shaft and proppeller he choose ?
Do you have any other interesting information about these new f200?

2) Change the trailer (NEED HELP)
I have the oportunities to change the trailer too .... but there is not many choice here in new caledonia .
The dealer offer me this model :

PLEASE HELP , I need advice to settle/adjust the trailer ! I never had "bunk" trailer (only roller model) , neither tandem axel trailer (only single ...) , so I am interested in any informations that might help me to settle it !

Not sure if you want to "import" a trailer from the US, but there are several manufacturers here that can build a trailer which meets your foreign specs, and fit the boat perfectly. All you will have to do is set the boat on it and it will fit like a glove. These manufacturers include Owens and Sons in St. Petersburg, Florida (727-323-1088) and Sport Trail in Bay St Louis, Mississippi (228-467-1885). If you can arrange for shipping, they can almost certainly get the trailer to the port.

Another option might be to find a Grady White dealer here in the USA who also sells Load Rite trailers. One that comes to mind (and is also a sponsor on this Forum) is Taylor Marine Center in Milford Delaware (302-422-9177). They may be able to measure how far apart the bunks should be for a 208, and you can use these measurements to set yours. The 208 hull hasn't changed since 1993, so the model year won't make a difference.

Load Rite Trailers are mass produced and designed to be adjusted...in some parts of the USA you can get a custom designed trailer for the same amount of money....it's the equivalent of walking into a department store and buying a suit vs. having a tailor custom make one for you. Both will do the job, and both will look good, but one will fit you perfectly.

A call or an e-mail to Grady White will get you or the dealer the specs for fitting a trailer to your boat. That's how we did it with my current Karavan.

Load Right trailers are easily adjustable. Fitting one to a new boat is a standard procedure that any dealer should be able to do.

Thank you parthery for your advice about the custom trailer , but the boat is already arrived here in new caledonia !
On this picture i'am in the boat driving it and the dealer is on the trailer !!!!
Same thing for the trailer , i choose the LoadRite trailer because the dealer have one ready to sell here .... (bring a custom trailer to new caledonia will be very very very expensive) .
I only need to adjust the trailer now . (My dealer has no experience , he just import used boat from USA from boat and it's his first grady 208 + loadrite trailer ...)

Ok thank's ,i will contact Grady White (http://www.gradywhite.com/contact/contact.php) and Taylor Marine Cente(http://www.taylormarinecenter.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.contact) by email. It's easier than by phone for me because of the jet lag and my poor english skills .... .
