Ok sounded like you couldn't trim up but 35% is pretty good. Still, sounds like these 4 blade 16s are the most pitch you've tried and you still reach max. Don't you wonder what might be possible? I know at some point you say "Hey this is nice lets go fishing"...thats kind of where I'm at.

Your right about that! I’m the kind of boater that couldn’t care less about WOT top speed. I’ve been in the boat biz for 43 years. Sharon and I love 30 mph. That’s a perfect cruising speed for us. I’m very tight with everyone at a Grady. I sold Grady’s back in the mid 80’s and they have been one of my biggest customers for the last 31 years. They are extremely impressed with my numbers I’m posting. They have not been able to duplicate them With Yamaha. The President of a Grady has a boat identical to mine, and the Engineers all get to use it, and so they know the 330 inside out.
My PowerTech Props have 4 massive blades Which work so we’ll on this beast of a boat. It also make marina maneuvering highly responsive.

my DF200s have 4 blade 15.25 x 22s and I still get to 6k so don't underestimate the potential of those DF250s
I was on the fence with still trying some 4x 16 x21s...if it was easy to just pick em off a shelf and keep trying it would be done....
I'm like you... don't need over 40mph ...30 to 33 is nice cruise

@usmm1234 - Curious if you have heard comparrisons of the Suzuki 225 vs the 250, gas mileage. I was under the impression the 225s were better on gas than the 250s, but cannot confirm.

I would think that depends on the boat? There are 2 different Suzuki 250’s. I have the DF250AP’s. They are fly by wire and have a bigger displacement then the DF225 or DF250. The DF250AP is an identical motor as the DF300AP. They are just flashed differently. The 250 is rated at 6100 rpm. The 300 is rated at 6300 rpm.

I have been watching the zuki's also and really like them. Glad to hear they are doing well. Only concern I have so far is the weight. They seem to be much heavier than the new Merc's in case that might be a factor on the repower. If the weight is no issue, then is a no brainer.

For me, I would need 200's and Suzuki is Inline 4 whereas the Merc is V6 with a lot more displacement, so will have better torque for my needs. I wish Suzuki made a V6 200 though.

i just repowered my 265 with 200 zukes and they offer plenty of torque . i would be skeptical on how mercury was able to shave that much weight off their motors recently

I doubt that. The only motors that would lower resale would be Honda or Evinrude. Suzuki is the fastest growing outboard line in the Industry for the last 2 years.

Nothing against Suzuki. Dad has 140 on pontoon boat. Quiet and no issues to date. Just don’t know much about them. See mostly YAM on offshore boats in the Ocean City area. Love to see some real numbers after some folks reposed with them.

Currently with a fully loaded boat, fuel, diesel, water etc, we cruise at 4800 rpms burning 28-29 GPH. A full trip to canyons, (50-60 miles), trolling all day burns 175-200 gal. Mine are 2006 so 3.3L vs 4.2.

My numbers are Posted on this blog. I have the DF250AP fly by wire Suzuki’s on my 2002 330 Express. Full of fuel, water, ice etc. I’m cruising at 28 to 29 mph at 1.28 miles per gal At 4650 rpm. At 4850rpm. I’m running 30 mph at 1.2 mpg. I’ve logged about 2000 miles so far on these engines. The self adjusting wet bath timing chain vs timing belt is a huge advantage over Yamaha. The reduction gears at the top of the drive shaft as well as the bottom allows you to run a bigger prop for a hole shot closer to what you would get with 2 strokes. It also puts the power head 4”’s forward which is great to counter the extra weight of 4 strokes. They also have the same lower unit for both engines. You just set it for which rotation you want. You have excellent torque out of the AP 250 with its larger displacement. Their dealer network has grown tremendously since Sea Pro Boats went back to private ownership. They are huge with Suzuki. I’ve seen a bunch of the 350’s on million dollar center consoles.
Everyone in my Company switched to Suzuki starting in 2013. Not one of us has had a single issue. My engines are 2016. My FL salesman has 2015 150’s. My son has had a 40 and a 90. He bought a boat with a 2012 Yamaha with 200 hrs. He’s changing that out to a DF250AP this fall.
All the SeaTow boats I see are running Suzuki’s.

Hey Guys - I know this is an older thread, but wanted to chime in...After reading the posts, I think you have me convinced to go with a pair of 300 Zukes on my 2006 330 Express with a tower...I mention that it has a tower, becuase I think that may be dragging my speed down some. I have orginal 2006 Yamaha 250's now, and top out at 5300 RPM. She is a dog too. 23-24knots is top end, but I am burning 38 GPH to get there. It makes for a very expensive and long day of fishing out of Ocean City MD where the runs can be upwards of 65 miles one way. Is anyone here running Suzuki 300's on their 330 Express, and if so, what prop is giving you the best performance?

These are my numbers with 310 gal of fuel and 40 gal of water onboard with the 4.0 liter DF250AP Zukies. They are identical to the 300’s accept for computer flashing. I run PowerTech 4 blade 16x16’s. They are way superior to the Suzuki props. 300’s would probably be 16x 18’s. I’m getting 1.25 mpg at 27.5 mph full of fuel. At half tank, I’m doing 29.5 mph. Mybest numbers are at 4550 rpm. My wide open throttle is 6100rpm at 1/3 trimmed up. Running 38.5mph .
