Just bought a new 2007 Marlin. How does everyone run their fuel valves?

1. Both engines on one tank till it almost empty, if so which tank first
2. One engine on aux one engine on main fuel tank
3. Any others combinations I should know about

Thank you,

Both engines on main until down to 20 gal, then switch to aux for long runs requiring both tanks. Otherwise I only keep each about 1/2 to 2/3 full and switch between them always keeping both motors on the same tank. My floscan would not totalize right without using a single tank though. If you have a fuel management system that will track both tanks independent you may have better luck under some other routine. jh

Brian, I almost always use your #1 method - run off one tank till almost empty. This is always the rear tank (main I think, but not certain), this keeps the bow down in a head sea while providing a better ride. When the rear tank is nearly empty I switch over to the second (forward) tank.

Hope this helps.

If you do a search you will find lots and losts of posts with lots and lots of opinions on this topic.

I run one engine off each these days. At first I alternated tanks but decided this would keep the fuel more fresh. It also alleviates the need top switch tanks on a long bluewater trip.
