Brand new 2021 fisherman, cracks all over port side gunwale. Finish on transom looks like it was burnt. Blisters in blue gelcoat. Not looking good with factory on making good on problems. Ordered , own before built . Customer relations just informed me that this is normal. Had minor underside scuffs, scratches and nicks. Can’t find fiberglass shop willing to get involved. Have no idea what to do. This is just a few picks. Normal for a 53,000.00 boat to crack? New?

Customer relations at Grady (the company) said it was normal? Something sounds fishy here - no, of course it's not normal.

Your dealer should be your advocate here - stay friendly with them.

Just out of curiosity, how did you get your hands on a brand new 2021 boat? I would of thought they would all have been sold some time ago.

Dealer screwed me twice trying to make half ass repairs. Ordered boat October 2020 picked up March 2021 3 1/2 hr drive boat filthy on pick up. Also didn’t expect all the imperfections on a brand new boat. I’ll never ever order a boat again.

Also believe boat was mishandled during shipping from the factory . Unexplained damage to body.

They are aware and I am in contact with them. No fiberglass guys want to get involved. They don’t think cracks can be permanently repaired. Offered to return to factory they don’t want it. Also unexplained damage to straights and chimes.

There's definitely some "odder than usual" repairs going on... and apparently they weren't that good otherwise we wouldn't be talking about them ;)

Dang, sorry to hear that, from those pictures that honestly looks much worse than my 2004 GW 228 Seafarer at almost 20 years old now. Hopefully Grady White takes care of you and fixes the issues because yeah, an essentially brand new boat shouldn't look like that. Good luck!

These sound like dealer issues, and if you can't get your dealer to engage, then I'd escalate to GW Customer Service. They are hypersensitive to the JD Power survey....you will get their attention.

If all of these issues were present at pick up, I hope you have proof that you pointed them out in some way. It has now been over a year since you got the boat and that provides them with some leverage.

Going back in the fall for a third time. Don’t know if I believe any repairs made are going to hold long term.

Is this a new boat, as in you just took delivery, or you bought it last year, used it and its been stored?

Just bought took ownership March 2021, cosmetic issues from the start. Back twice to be repaired. Both times total failure. Stored over winter 21 into 22. Stress fractures returned, new ones appeared.

Totally unacceptable on a brand new boat. What is the issue you're having with the dealer? Why won't they make this right?

Two three and a half hr drives to try to repair both failures. Going back in fall for third time. More and more cracks appearing over the winter. Factory says normal, but willing to make it right. Don’t know how they can do this. Do believe I am through with Grady White boats. Only thing they can really do to make me happy is replace the hull. Also believe boat was dropped.

Approx. six to eight areas involved, mostly gelcoat cracks. Scimcoat repairs won’t cut it.

Yea, done with Grady White and Taylor Marine. Grady White won’t help, Taylor marine in Delaware and Maryland seem to think all my fault just. Back several times to repair something that shouldn’t be happening in the first place. More and more areas of the top section of the boat cracking as we speak. Had for two months this fall and still couldn’t repair all the cracks. Believe boat was miss handle during delivery. All dealer and Grady would say is believe what you want. Be aware and inspect any boat you may purchase very well. Dealer and Grady White got their money and don’t really care about their craftsmanship. There are so many cracks and defects the boat never should have been sold as new. Dealer also delivered boat to me dirty kind of hard to see defects also wouldn’t expect a Grady to sell a boat in this condition.

Thank you Grady White for making this right. Boat will be a nightmare for as long as I own it.
