Water standing in drain hole of helm? Does this drain into a pan and a pump takes it out or does it drain directly out of the boat?

I don't know the answer... but it stands to reason that if it drains overboard, it would be the shortest route possible - so there would then be a a thru-hull on the side of the boat near the helm. Do you have that?

Try a little bit of compressed air or weedwhacker string.

I will but really need to know if it has a tray with bulge or drains thru hull. It could be a belly in the line but don't want to start blowing air till I know for sure.

Looking at the side of the boat for the thru-hull will tell you. But don't worry, a little bit of air won't hurt anything, The string won't either - just don't force it too hard.

Sometimes there's info in manuals about this stuff - not sure about this, though.

My smaller 208 has small front cockpit drains (forward of the helm seating) that go directly overboard just above the waterline. I’d be pretty surprised if Grady designed a deck drain that went to the bilge on bigger boats. The drain holes are definitely small on my rig and I could see a bit of debris easily blocking it up. Even a bit of brief, light pressure pressure from the hose should clear the drain.

It has the tray with a small bulge pump to take out. There is a filter involved and will be back to my boat the weekend to check it out. I will share my findings.

Thanks for the update.

Truthfully, I would have thought it would have gone directly overboard given it's height above the waterline!
