2023 Adventure 218

Hey There,

New to Great Grady,

I have the new Adventure 218 getting rigged up at the dealership. Curious on any owners and feedback from the new boat.

I'm getting a a 250 with 9.9 kicker for westcoast fishing. I also have a 5 year old daughter so its a great family boat for us to cruise with.

I ordered a 215 last week which is the same hull I believe, also with a 250. Interested in your experience and congratulations!

Welcome! You might be the first person on the forum to own a new Adventure 218. Can't wait to see some pics!

According to my dealer there is ONE 218 available in the entire state (FL) and its loaded out at $160k, and a color we didn't want. So we may be ordering one soon. I'm debating the 200 or 250.

My dad has a 215 (the bow rider) with a 200 and it feels adequate. I just wonder how much heavier the 218 will feel in the water.

I've got a 228 Seafarer with an F225 and definitely wouldn't want to go with anything less at a similar length/weight of boat to what I've got. I'd get the digital version of a Yamaha F250 and call it a day.

Same I have the 228 with the digital 250. No way would I go back to mechanical, digital has no dead spot in the middle. The 218 is big enough I think it wants the 250. It's wider, that adds weight.

Well keep in mind that Mr. Ready-Freddy is running a kicker for trolling on the Westcoast like I am with my Suzuki’s so having mechanical controls works awesome with a dual binnacle setup for both engines. To my knowledge I don’t they have made a fly by wire kicker to date.

After seeing this thread I compared the 218 and 215. The 218 is roughly 500 lbs heavier than the 215.
I think you would regret not going with the 250 on a 218.
The 200hp on a 218 wot is 39mph. On a 215 it’s 42-43mph.

I agree. And I don't think it's about the WOT speed even, it's more about the hole shot. I think the 200 is going to struggle to push the 218 up on plane when it's not a flat ocean. And I'm not one of those "bigger is better" guys, I have a 250 on my 228 which can handle a 300. I think the 250 is fine. I just looked at the 218 specs, pretty similar weight to my 228. 200hp would be not enough. I'm surprised Grady isn't offering that boat with 250 or 300.

I think the motor offered is the I4 200. That would be lighter than the 250

Agreed. Also, if you compare to the two motors to one another on the GW website you'll see how the F250 has pretty comparable mid range at 3,500 rpm where you're traveling 25.1 mph and getting 3.18 mpg while burning 7.9 gph. Comparatively, the F200's optimum cruise is at 4,100 rpm traveling 24.5 mph getting 3.2 mpg and burning 7.6 gph.

Not poop on anyone's parade too much, but those mpg numbers are pure fantasy. On a pretty flat ocean I'll get as much as 2.4mpg @ 25mph and if there is any chop it will drop to 2.2mpg. I've _never_ seen my 228 get 3mpg.

Oh I definitely realize that one isn't going to get those numbers every time that they go out, and that those are numbers that you'll likely only get in the absolute best of conditions possible. I'm sure when testing to get those numbers that the weather and conditions were perfect and that they had as little fuel and extra weight on board as possible.
