204 C gunnel rod holders water intrusion

Hi, my 82 204C has 2 rod holders mounted on the top of the gunnels. The side of the gunnels on these boats are closed in. Can anyone tell me where the rain/splash water drains into? I think that there is foam between the inside and outer hulls. My concern is about soaking the foam even more than what it’s had over the last 40 years.

After 40 years I wouldn't worry. If you really want to know where the water goes, pour water into the rod holder. Look under the gunnels and then look in the bilge.
