228 Seafarer Bulkhead

I have a '95 228 Seafarer. The left side if the bulkhead, where the cabin door hinges has rotted at the bottom and needs to be replaced. Has anyone got any instructions/tips for doing this. Should I use marine plywood or StarBoard?

I am not familiar with the bulkhead on that model but in general, if it is glassed in, starbaord would be a poor choice. That material is meant to be mechanically secured with bolts or screws. It does not adhere well to most adhesives and resins. Marine plywood is an option but take a look at other composites. Coosa board is one example.

I used marine plywood, and epoxied the edges and bottom.

Why don’t you use marine ply wood make template and rap it in fiberglass matting sand smooth and paint with Epoxy paint

That sounds like a lot of work. If you were to do that, I think I would finish with gelcoat. Grady just used wood and a veneer to build the boat, so I was okay with cutting out a template and waterproofing the wood, which they did not, and eventually it delaminates.
