I looked at a new 228 at a local boat show today. It was equipped with the standard helm chair and the port companion bench/L shaped seat. It really made a big difference in the helm space.

Walking through to the helm or cabin was much easier than this model equipped with the twin deluxe helm chairs.

Has anyone ordered a 226/8 with the port bench, and are you glad you did? It seems comfortable, and a footrest and stainless hand rail provided security for the passenger.

Also, the companion way bi-fold door is secured open by a heavy magnetic catch now. Nice alternative to a hook, vinyl strap/snap or velcro strap.

That L shaped seat makes a huge difference...you can get them on the 208s now, as well.
