I've just bought a Grady White 228 Seafarer and am making a big trip next week to relocate the boat.

I will be going through the Chesapeake Bay and up the Potomac. It will end up being about 120 nautical miles. I've got a Yamaha 225 on it and will probably run somewhere around 25mph if the weather will allow.

Any recommendations and information for a newbie would be great. What kind of fuel consumption should I expect?

Thanks!
Chris

At 25 mph I would guess 8-10 GPH depending on weather, load.
You should be able to do a least 2 statute MPG or better depending on load and weather/seas according to Grady Performance data. It would be prudent to have coords on possible fuel stops along the way, just in case consumption is higher than expected

My Adventure 208 with a 225 F.S. has a 200 n.m. range with a 82 gallon fuel tank. I would think the 228 would have at least that or more.

My F250 burns 8.5 gph at 3700 rpm = 25 mph. It burns 10 gph at 4200 rpm = 29-30 mph. An F225 should give similar numbers at mid throttle.
