Wondering if anyone has changed out their original ladder back seats for other options. I’m looking for more of a high back type of chair to replace my seats. Currently looking at Llebroc Mako, which I believe you could get as an option on the 232. I’d like to know if anyone else chose other brands, and seat types and why they chose them. Also looking to get my seats a little higher, I’ve searched and notice most people got longer pedestals, and cut them to the length they desired. Does anyone know who makes the original bases? I’m thinking of changing those as well, due to the originals being pretty corroded.

BigD,

I have the Llebroc Mako chairs ordered for my Gulfstream. Eagerly awaiting their arrival. Will let you know how they feel and how I like them when they arrive and I get them on the boat. Take Care

I went to a flip-back helm seat earlier this year. Got it from Arrigoni Designs in CT. It's available for less from other suppliers. Haven't used it yet but it should work well. I'm always spinning my helm chair around to fish. Now I just flip it!

Thanks for the response. I just got my revised quote with shipping back from them today.

I had a couple of questions, what color did you end up going with, and what pedestal option. I was hoping to re-use the existing pedestals for another couple of months, then eventually bite the bullet for the shoxs pedestals.

The color of mine (still haven’t been delivered yet) are Voyager Sand. They said that is the color they send all chairs to Grady White and it is the match. I didn’t order pedestals as they said mine should work fine. I’m going to use the ones on the boat for now and may do something different with them in the next year, something like you’re thinking. The shox pedestals are nice!

Thanks for the reply. Sounds good on the pedestals, I was hoping to re-use mine as well for a few months. Can’t wait to see them installed.

Following. I'm looking to replace the base of a grady ladder back chair. flip seats look great however my 3rd passenger stands and holds on the the handles on the seats so without it they will lean and push the back into me driving. Happened on my last boat and was annoying.

I put the Llebroc Mako (GW uses a custom version of these today) on my 300. Fold up seat makes a great bolster for your back. Seat is big and super comfy. I'd recommend it.

Any photos of the install?

I actually did. But it turned out to be very recently so I have not spent much time on them yet. Winter is my company’s busy season and it has been a crazy one, and we are still trying to get caught up.
So….. the mounting hardware and brackets on the bottom of the ladder backs does NOT work on these, so go ahead and order it. Also, when you order chairs, brackets, everything you think you will need…..Llebroc does not (and will not) send the bolts to connect it all together. I thought it was strange that after spending several thousand dollars on the chairs, the mounting kits to fit the pedestals, they tell you you have to get the bolts to put it together on your own (like at Lowes)!!

I have only been on the chairs for a very little while after getting them in but they felt GREAT. Very happy with the comfort. Can’t wait to spend a lot more time enjoying them. The color (voyager sand) matched the Grady color perfectly.

No, but it goes right on your existing mount, I think it was 2.5", I'd get the fixed mount for a second install. Try it for a while with the adjustable mount, it will likely move a bit. When you know the height, cut the fixed mount to that height and install it. It was a direct fit and if you get the mount with the same screw pattern, it is super easy.

Nice, thanks for posting photos. Looks like the spacing between is similar to the ladder backs.
Any issues of swiveling the chairs to the aft position? From time to time we will swivel them aft while entertaining on anchor or at the sandbar.

No swing issues at all. The chair really is a direct fit. I talked with a CS rep there and she was great. I could get a plastic back panel or covered in seat material. I got the latter. There are some SS options but I did the basic chair. More than sufficient.

Does the new seats raise the sitting position at all? I feel like I’d like the chairs a little higher than the ladder backs, as my field of view sitting is directly at the top of the windshield line.

On my boat it mounts to a pedestal mount, so you can set it (cutting the pedestal to height) to whatever you desire. If mounting to a fixed platform and you don't have the provision for a mount, I'd want to talk with someone at the chair factory. I think most mount the same way and are roughly the same seat height to bottom of the chair, but best to verify before purchasing.
