Hi guys,

I have a 2000 gradywhite 265 express and I wold like to have some a/c for the kids on the hot days.
I know there's a few options I would like to know if anyone has done it on this boat and what they used.
Thank you all in advance.

You will need a generator. Seems like a lot of expensive work on a small boat. We have a 330 express with air and genset. It is nice!

there are small dc units out there. don't know anyone using them. also, you could get one of the drop in hatch ac units and put an inverter in. either way, i think you will probably just be knocking some heat out, not cooling. but again, i don't know. good luck, ron

Installed a Mermaid Marine Air 6,500-BTU reverse cycle unit many years ago. Still works well. Runs when on shore power, or when the Honda EU2000i is powering up the boat.

Don't waste your time reading or thinking about DC units. JMHO, but the wattage calculations justify that opinion. Same for inverter approach. We have an inverter that can run the AC, but the batteries and engine alternators can't keep up with the discharge rate.

Good feedback. Maybe look for a larger boat with a gen and air already factory installed. Fill will grow and kids will get bigger and want to bring friends.

Thank you so much for all the great advice. I can't go up on size just yet although I would love to.

I will be looking into the Mermaid Marine Air 6,500-BTU reverse cycle unit.

thank you
