I hear ya gradyfish22. On the Yamaha website performance bulletin, the 330 express numbers between the 225 and the 250 isn't that huge. I no the 265 is about

No replacement for the 265, (nor Islander in my opinion).

Both eliminated from production, to clear factory space for other models, per Grady insiders - previously posted here.

I agree... no replacement and you really can't compare it to the 305. The two boats, other than both being expresses, are completely different. And the length difference is closer to 5'. The 265 has a center line of 25'9" and the 305 is 30'6". The cockpit on the 305 is also quite a bit shorter than the 300 Marlin. That lost cockpit space went into the helm area and cabin. Yes you lose about 2" for the euro transom but that is a major plus to many people. Especially for people who like to be on anchor and swim off the boat. As Tim said, the 265 is a hard core fishing boat. It is also a great day boat. But the 305 has a ton more amenities and storage space... also would sport a price tag when new that would probably be about $110k+ more than the 265 if it was still being built. I personally only know one person who owns a 265 and for his purposes he couldn't be happier.

It's all about what you intend to use the boat for... that's the most important thing to decide(other than budget) before you start looking or guaranteed you will be back in the market in 1 or 2 yrs.

Would have bought one at the show back in the intro year. The cabin height didn't clear my head - only reason not to.

I wish I saw 1.9's!!! It is more like 1.7, I've only seen 1.8 a handful of times on flat calm days and half fuel. I run as hard as I can while keeping burn above 1.5, usually I run around 31-32mph, depending on conditions. Top end for me with 3/4 fuel and 3 onboard is roughly 44-45mph. With full offshore gear, 700lbs of ice, liferaft and 4 onboard expect closer to 1.2 on the way out and 1.5 on the way in if you run around 28mph. This is an avg expected burn from my 4 midshore and offshore runs I made this season. On an offshore run (85-90 miles each way for me) with a 6 hour troll we burned 200gal even. That was running 15-16mph in 5-6ft rollers on the way out and running in at 30-32mph in a 1ft swells. This would roughly be your worst case fuel burn on an offshore trip and would really put you at your range limit, you would like to have that 50gal as a reserve. Running at a normal cruise and in better conditions, that trip should burn about 180gal for me. Hopefully this gives you a good idea of real fuel burns you can expect in different conditions.

gradyfish22-- i get the exact numbers you posted on my canyon trips with my 200 hpdi's--every stat was identical including top speed !- i thought they would be similar but that is amazing-- i will probably run these 2 strokes at least until warranty runs out- then look at 4 strokes-- anyway, just thought stats were interesting

I run a solid 1.5 mpg cruise heading offshore with my twin HPDI's.... It only drops less than this if I pull the trottles back due to sea conditions....
Heading out I am at 3900 to 4100 RPM and running about 28 mph. This is loaded with five guys, ice and gear. Coming in, after burning 80 gallons she will be running closer to 30 mph. The trip I do from Ct includes a round trip distance of about 230 - 250 miles. This inludes about 40 miles trolling. She will burn 165-185 gallons for this adventure.

Also, the test with the 225's was with 160 gallons of fuel, 2 batteries, tools, safety gear and 3 people. 0-5 mph wind.

Ice, full tank, bait etc, (normal off shore trips) the numbers will be change a great deal. But still excellent in my opinion.

Maybe the F-250's are not a good choice for the 265 express if you plan on doing off shore trips. I'm in the same range as you guys, coming from Long Island. I might not get back in with 250 4 strokes. and the OX66's 250 must be a joke when it comes to fuel range.

thanks for the fuel burn figures guys it makes for interesting reading.Just thought i would throw another factor into the equation.....bottom paint,fresh or old and better still no bottom paint?
Any comparisons?

I am not so sure about that. It is my understanding that the later OX66's were pretty decent on fuel.

I think that with twin 250 OX66's you would cruise at 3400 to 3600 RPM instead of the 4000 with the twin 200's.

I had actually thought if something happened to my motors, I would repower with twin 250's. If the timing was right I would have the scuppers moved up and hang twin F250's off of the back OR I would find a clean used set of OX66's and install them. Definitly 250 horsepower motors.......
When I am looking at 100 miles one way to the fishing grounds, and faced with flat calm seas (usually the case if I am making this type of trip) I would love to cruise at 35mph instead of 30!

I would love for someone with 500 horse on a 265 Express to chim in.

The numbers were not horrible, but they were worse then both the HPDI and F225. With the numbers they posted, you would probably expect 1.0mpg at best on an offshore trip. It would still give you the range to make the trip but for me it would be nerve wracking. I like to run with ample fuel and not worry about fuel burn every ten seconds of the trip. I totally understand your feeling of wanting to run harder, but with the F225's you would see a better fuel efficiency running at 35mph then with the OX66's. I agree it would still be nice to see some data from owner's with OX66's. Coming back from a shark trip, I was running 1/2 fuel in flat calm conditions on the way in at 37mph getting 1.3mpg, I doubt you will see that burn on an OX66. If you would like I can post those fuel burn numbers tonight from that article.

Head Room in Cabin

Can someone tell me if you can stand up without your head hitting the the top or if you have to duck? I am 6'4 anyone know on the 265?

SlimJim I am 6'3" not even close even with a cargo net on the aft half.

That would be great if could post the numbers on the 250ox66's. I'm going to look at one this weekend or next week.

I am looking for the inside of the cabin height. Do you have to duck your head INSIDE the Cabin?

my mistake...I was talking at the helm. Inside you will have to duck a bit....in the head particularly. In my view it is workable below...but it IS tight if you are tall.
