Question for the group. Starboard engine was running very rough at idle. Had mechanic look at motor he advised there is a small hole in the block. Of course no more warranty, Do you think a weld would do the trick. He was saying possible JD weld. Appears hole due to corrosion. Don't know if I should go for new block if weld doesn't work. Hole is right near thermostat. I am original owner of boat and Marina where I have boat does all routine maintenance. I flush engines after every use. Very frustrated, I have over 1300 hours on motors . A friend of mine has exact motors and has over 2400 hours and never had this problem. Thanks

I dont enough about JB weld. I have used it once trying to fix a cracked radiator seem a long time ago. It was marginally successful. Is the corrosion. In the water jacket into the combustion. Chamber ? I would think the JB weld could tolerate say water temps and the moderate pressure there . I don't think it could deal with pressure and temps of say the combustion chamber.

That’s a very common problem on the F225’s. As far as JB Weld, I had an 02 Honda 225 on my previous boat, had about the same issue. I tried a few things but JB Weld Steel Stik seems to work best. Worth a try .
