Looking to see what pitch I should use if anyone has run this setup. I know several have used Yamaha 300s but they normally spin a smaller wheel so it’s hard to compare.

Producer I have a 1996 268 Islander with a 2019 Suzuki 300 AP. Proping after the repower took some time and effort. The lowest pitch that Suzuki had was a 17" pitch. My Islander is heavy and I have a lot of gear on board and the original Yammie 250 ran a 15X15. With the Suzuki 16 X17 the boat labored to get out of the hole and it would not spin up past 47 to 4800 rpm. After several trials of other props I had the Suzuki prop cut to a 16 x 14 with a full cup. I cruise at 24 mph and get 1.9 to 2.4 mpg based on sea conditions. Wide open she go 34 to 36mph. The 300 Suzuki is a fabulous engine and will totally change the performance of your Islander. I now have 275 hrs on mine.

I am a bit surprised that you had to option such a drop in pitch. I can understand the improvement in bottom end performance I guess but would not expect an increase in WOT speed.
What were the WOT revs on the yami and what do you get on the zuke with the new prop?

Did you consider or try a 4 blade prop to improve hole shot?

The Yam gave me 5100 and the Zuke will spin to 6200. The Yam was a 15" dia. the Zuke is a 16. 2.08 to 1 gear ratio on the Zuke lower.

Thank you, I have read your posts about it. What rpm are you turning at cruise? Also did you try a 4 blade?

At cruise 45 to 4600 gives me the best economy avg 2 mpg at 24 to 25 mph. I talked to Ken at Prop Gods years ago when I had my Yamaha he suggested a Powertec 4 blade 15 dia X 14 pitch. I never pulled the trigger on that prop.
