I have a 1995 272 Sailfish with original AM/FM head unit in the cabin with wired remote in on the helm. I am looking for a reasonable replacement without breaking the bank. I suppose have sound in the cabin isn't that important to me. I do run Garmin electronics so, I think they work well with Fusion? Any ideas would be appreciated.

AM/FM marine units are a dime a dozen these days. For about $100.00 I got a decent unit with 2 speakers....wireless remote....bluetooth capability to my phone and other devices. It just depends on how much you want to spend.

I was looking for a near direct fit replacement so, I don't have a large hole from the wired remote on the helm. I'd be interested to see what others have done.

I have a fusion on my boat. Very happy with it.

Thinking of replacing the Kenwood wit this in my Islander 270

I put a Kenwood in mine this past summer and it lets you connect to iPhone direct USB or bluetooth. The helm has a kenwood remote and there is a Kenwwod app that allows you to control the radio from anywhere on the boat on your phone. The radio has AM/FM, Serius and a bunch of other streaming services. Also has CD player. It was $149 for the unit and I think the remote for the helm was $79.

I replaced the Kenwood in my 02 282 a few months ago. I bought another Kenwood, with bluetooth, CD, and remote capability, and decided to try the original remote that came installed from the factory. It worked just as it should. So if you buy another Kenwood (I don't remember the model #, but I can check it if you like), and if your old remote looks good, it works.

Good to know. Only thing is my remote display looks crappy so it needs to go. May go with a Fusion if I can get over the high price. It does look like a well built product.

West Marine carries two kits, a Dual Digital Media Receiver (DMR) with 2 speakers and another model with 4 speakers. The larger one is listed for $145, you can probably find it online for less.
