That's interesting. Care to share your thoughts? To me, it's just a model, like my Sailfish is a 282. You have a 252, a Marlin is a 300, and an Express is a 330.

Since birth in 1989 there has only been one Marlin model for sale, many sailfish model variations each year until 1994. Then down to two or so when the diesel I/O showed up. The changes to advertised lengths is meaningless.

The other reason has something to do with naming boats after women -

Ms Marlin is not so sexy as the equivalent younger Pursuit Model with her raised deck walkaround, taller rising rals, and soft (but firm) top side edges (IMHO), but Ms. Marlin is one class act, shows her age well and didn't need much in the way of cosmetic work being a natural looker from day 1.
What Admiral wouldn't find those characteristics agreeable?
