This pump is nearly impossible to get to and my marina replaced it 2 years ago with great frustration. They said they will not do it again because the job took 3 hrs and it's not worth their time. The pump they put on (same as factory one) eneded up leaking in the bildge and almost sank my boat. Any help would be appreciated. There has got to be a way to get to this pump other than standing on my head.

On my 272 you can pull out the deck section behind the gas tank to get to the pump. I pulled mine off while repairng a leak on my through hull transducer. The job is really not that bad, just get a tube or two of the proper sealant when you put the deck plate back in.
I'm taking that panel off to inspect my fuel tanks anyway so that would be great. I already bought the GE silicone II almond color just for the job. I hope it is that easy! Thanks and I will keep eveybody posted.
If it's that hard to get to, when you have the panel off, relocate the pump to a better spot. On my 252, if I didn't pull off the rear hatch I couldn't imagine doing the job. It's probalby in the same area as mine so why wouldn't the marina pull the hatch? What's the extra cost a tube of almond silicone and a little 4000UV for the screws vs an extra 2 hours of labor. Plus you can see if there's any leaks.
So I can move the pump and use the same sea cock? Just relocate the pump higher up by adding more hose? That sounds like a good plan. F the marina I can do that myself.
With the rear access panel off its easy.
You have the right sealent but do the following steps on installing the silicone:
1. Tape off both sides of joint
2. Apply sealant
3. Use a combination of water and dishwashing soap on your finger to smooth sealant.
4. Remove tape immediately after smoothing.

Yes, you can. Livewell pumps are mounted in many different places in regards to the pickup. But if yours threads on to the top of the pickup, you'll have to buy a barbed tailpiece that threads into the pickup and a tailpiece that threads onto the pump...

Do a search about hatch access. I have a 265 Express, we fish a ton and seemed to be "pulling the hatch", every season to replace either the washdown or livewell pump.
This offseason I brought the boat to a local glass shop, he took the hatch out, filled and color match all the holes from the screw, added a hinge some flushhandles and a gasket..voila a new access hatch into the aft bildge area....

Eppem, can you post a pic of that hatch repair? I'm sure more than a few would like to see it....
From what i see at boat shows, most companies just glass everything in...gotta pull a fuel tank on a tiara and the who deck needs to be cut out, etc...I guess its still a pia because of the rechaulking but at least we have access to everything!
