In search of a 282 sailfish or 300 Marlin 05 or newer with 250s. I’m located in Alabama and willing to travel for the right deal.
Thanks Joe.

I'm no expert but I regularly ride on a Canyon 271 that has twin 300s. That's a smaller, lighter boat than a Marlin. I have to wonder if a Marlin with 250s is under powered. Any Marlin people want to chime in?

I know a few folks who have twin 225s/250s on their Marlins and they have no complaints ( except for the exhaust corrosion problem:))
Personally, the layout of the helm seems crowded to me for such a 'big' boat.

250s are fine, but folks who repower their Marlins tend to go with 300s.

I have looked at a 282 with 250s and I like that power. Everything I have read here owners say the 300 is a much larger boat, and they love them over the 282. I believe my family would be happy with either boat. We just sold our 21 regulator. So we are looking. Thanks for the replies.

... Maybe Fish Tales will chime in. He could give you some good insight being he owned a Sailfish and a Marlin.

Both great boats , I have 2006 Marlin w/twin 250's. Yes a heavy boat but moves quite well with that power, top end is 41mph loaded. My buddy has Sailfish just re-powered w/new 250's and that boat is faster. We chose the Marlin for more beam and room in general. you can't go wrong with either one

Hey. I’m Blake. I have a 2000 300 marlin posted on Facebook marketplace. Savannah GA area. Check out the listing when you have a chance. I know it’s a little older than what you’re looking for but it’s a great boat and everything works with lots of updates. Including 2019 Suzuki 300’s. Just listed recently and the price is negotiable. Thanks and good luck on your hunt

We brought home our 282 yesterday. We bought it in Panama City beach Fl. And ran her 120ish miles home back to Al. The boat was at treasure island in PCB Mike, Terri and the crew were all super helpful. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for a marina to stay at or a dry stack to keep your boat.

Thank you all for sharing your experience and thoughts. IMG_6395.jpeg

Congrats on the new ride!! The 282 is my sixfootitis boat if I'm ever able to move to the coast, although it may be hard to let my 228 go.

I have a 1992 Marlin 30 for sale at a low price.
It has F225s (2006 and 2009) with 700 hours, AC, Ray AXIOM, and fresh bottom paint.
Located in Florida panhandle. Tom
