Hi all,
Looking for suggestions for new generator replacements on my 2007 Marlin 30ft . The generator has seen better days and cost to fix might be too much. From what I understand its a older model which parts are getting harder and harder to get.
Has anyone gone to other generators other the Panda ??? how has it worked out ....or just stick with the new model Panda.

Pretty tight spot where it is mounted. I have the panda 4200 diesel and probably would install another as it should be an easy remove and replace. Just my 2 cents. Will be interesting what others say.

My Marlin came with a 5KW Kohler, no complaints. It was easy to change oil, and impeller was not too bad. Gasoline not Diesel, so it just taps off the Aux Tank.

Not a totally relevant answer, but I have the 4100 (maybe 4200?) Panda Diesel in my 2018 Marlin and love it. If mine bit it, I would install another in a minute.

I just happened to be looking at Generators recently .... the Northern lights 5kw caught my eye for at least further investigation. My FP only has 28 hours on it ... I did need to do some repairs on it when I bought the boat ... The price and availability of parts just rubbed me the wrong way .. It's running well now but I always like to know my options which is the reason I was looking . I could be wrong, but it seamed to me that most of these smaller generators are of European manufacture.

Take a look at whisper power.com I was at the Newport boat show and saw these Picollo gensets small, quiet and reasonably priced. When it’s time I would definitely consider these.

Looks like around $7500 for a 4kW? Cheaper than FP by quite a bit.
