I'm wondering if I should buy a 330 with the twin Yamaha 225's. I'm not big on speed but I was just wondering what the real world mpg is on a 330 with twin Yamaha 225's. I'm not trying to start a debate just wanting to get some real life feedback on the performance of a 330 with twin Yamaha 225's.

Thanks,
Scott

I can tell you that I get 1-1.2 MPG in my Marlin with twin 2-stroke 250's at 25mph. I think you can probably expect to see around the same with 4 stroke 225's on an express.

If you go to the Yamaha website and look under performance reports you might find this same boat/motor combo. It will tell you what speeds to expect, what prop to use to duplicate their results and fuel consumption numbers for various RPM's. They also give you the weight it was tested at which is very important. I found my 28 listed there and was able to match their performance numbers very close. The 330 is a heavy boat I doubt you'll do much better than 1.5 mpg.

I have a 330 with twin 250s and the best I see is 1.2-1.3 on a plane. 225s would be marginal in my opinion. GW has performance charts for several engine combos on that boat. Visit their website for specifics.

i have a 330 with 225's . it depends on load and sea conditions, but i get anywhere from 1.1 to 1.4 .the boat has plenty of power..dont buy into all of the guys that say that it is underpowered.

The best I have seen is 1.3 nautical MPG. I can easily get 1.1 with a half tank of fuel. Plan on 1.0 at 25 KTS in light to moderate seas.

My top speed is 31 KTS on a clean bottom with a light load and cruise around 25 with a full load. The 225s seam to have plenty of power for the conditions I run in even when the seas are heavy.

I have a 330 that had F225's. I could fiqure on at least 1.0 mpg or better at most speeds. I usually cruised between 28 to 30mph. Top speed 36-38 mph. Always had full fuel and lots of gear. Many trips to Abaco's 180 miles I would use about 175 gallons. This was with 4 to 6 people and food, supplies for the week. Several friends have same boat with 250's only difference is about 2mph top speed. I am going to repower my boat later on this year. Lost and engine due to corrosion!!! I did have 4 blade props that made a difference over the 3 blade. I have attached an Yamaha performance report but never have seen any of those numbers.

Not all boaters go by the same yardstick - that is - statute or nautical miles.

I go by Nautical miles and get 1.0 nmpg and am exclusively in the ocean and usually pretty heavy with fuel.
I have a 2006 330 with F250's. Top end at WOT is 35 knots (40 mph statute).
A friend of mine has a 2002 330 with F225's.
He generally gets better fuel economy than me - maybe 1.1 nmpg.

I recently did a 200 mile tuna trip where I burned 194G - 60 miles out, 60 miles back at 4,200 rpm's @ 22-25 knots cruise speed) and 80 miles of trolling (6 GPH for ~13 hours at 7 knots). Hope this helps.
