330 fuel tank question

does anyone run one motor on the main tank and the other motor on the aux tank ? i was thinking to do this to keep my fuel from sitting in the aux tank too long.

i don't do that with my 330 and didn't do it with the 232. i run both engines off of one tank; that way i easily know how much fuel is left in the boat (and that removes the issue of double unusable fuel). i run one tank down, switch to the other and continuing running off of that one. when i take on fuel, i also top the "running" tank, but continue to use that until it's run down; then start the process over again.

i've been doing this since 2002 and it has worked well. always well stabilized on layup and once we switched to ethanol, i started to add Stabil on every fuel up.

i'm sure others have different opinions. i do know that you have to do that with some makes since they use saddle tanks and it would cause a severe list if you don't. ron

I use one tank per engine. Adding equal amounts at each fill or keeping them topped up. Ots easier to manage. It keeps fresh gas in each tank. And, should I run low, I know the larger tank is my. default reserve

I run each motor off of a separate tank. Reasoning is:
1. if I have a motor problem, I can switch tanks/motors to see if that is the issue,
2. I always add the same amount of fuel to both tanks. This keeps fresh fuel in both tanks, plus on long trip where we are completely refilling the tanks, I can tell if one motor is burning significantly more fuel than the other.

Did this same practice on my 272 Sailfish.

When I bought my 330 Express, the former owner ran both engines off one tank, never ever switched tanks, and I ended up with the aux tank full of bad fuel/water.

So no matter what you decide, be sure to switch the motors to the other tank every other trip in order to keep your fuel fresh.

i guess im going to run each motor on seperate tanks too. these tanks are large enough to run each engine on seperate tanks without the fear of running out of fuel. i dont want to have to worry about fuel sitting in the aux tank too long.

On my 330 I run with both tanks. This keeps the fuel always fresh.
When traveling in Bahamas I use the main tank and leave the Aux for emergency in case I get some bad fuel on an out of the way island. This way I always have good fuel in one tank. When I get back home it is back to both.
