330 with F300 props

Hi all,

I was wondering what props people are running on the 330 express with F300?

Anyone using four blade? On Grady's official website, under performance, they're using 15 3/4 X 15 SWSII SDS
But a Grady Dealer used 15 1/4 x 17 SWSII SDS

I just bought Power tech OFS4 15.25x15 pitch 4 blade props
They are on new Yamaha 300s
I am still breaking in the motors, but by the weekend i should be able to open them up, boat is full of fuel and water.
I can tell you this, we went out for a ride, 11 people, 4200rpms and we were at 32 mph
It felt like it had so much more
Cant wait to run it again

For what it's worth I have the 4.2L F250 Offshores on my 330 (same engine as the F300 but different ECM). I run the Mercury Thunderbolt (aka Mirage Plus) because I was unable to obtain the Yamaha SWS II at the time. I've been very happy with them - top speed is 40mph, best cruise is 30mph at 4300 rpm burning 1.1mpg (all statute miles)

(meant to mention I am running 15" - top RPM is 5500)

Heres an update
01 330 Express new Yamaha 300s 4 blade power tech 15.25 x15 pitch
Went full throttle today
5500 rpms @40 mph
At just over 3/4 throttle I was at the same rpm and speed, nothing changed to full throttle
this leads me to believe these are not the right props
At 4000 rpms she runs at 30 mph
today we had flat seas, full fuel and water. 3 adults

Based on the Yamaha Facebook group; looks like the 300 should be around 5800 to 6000 rpm.
I wonder if you went down to 14 pitch that will increase rpm?

Just wondering if you stayed with the 15" OFS4's? What did you get for best cruise?

I did stay with theses props 15.25x15
I would of liked a little more RPM at WOT (5500-5600) but after talking to my Yamaha tech, he thought the next prop would over rev the motors
I cruise with a full load of fuel and water, 4100 rpms at 29-30 mph, 1.1-1.2 mpg, topping out at 40 mph
i really like these props, out of the hole they are great, reverse has nice bite as well, better than expected

I like my 4 blades on my 300 Marlin, gives her heavy fat butt a bit of extra lift which helps hole shot a little but really helps me stay off the tabs too. Don't notice much difference in fuel economy/sweet spot/WOT.... Wouldn't go back.

Hi, so im repowering my 05 , 330 express with 2015 yamaha
300's im seeing that the props that i should be using are the 15.25x15, 4 blade, someone told me to try the 19" 3 blade and they are horrible, any comments out there?

I used the same props that were on my 225 Yammies - SWS 15 1/4 x 17P on my new 4.2L 250's. I'm getting comparable mileage/performance with a little more "kick in the rear" on acceleration. The "bite" seems good - no cavitation issues. I'm getting about 5,300 RPM (40mph) at full throttle. I'm not a speed freak - so normally cruise at @30mph - @4,100 rpm. Question - is it worth buying new props to get rpm's nearer to 5,800 at full throttle? New props are expensive, so I need to be convinced that there are good reasons/benefits to upgrade to new ones.

From what I understand if you are only getting 5,300 at full throttle you are over propped and overloading the engine. It's a little like going up hill in a high gear in your car, It puts a lot of strain on the engine and could result in problems. The gear ratio on the 4.2L engines is different so it is comparable to having 19" pitch on your old engine.

Im repowering my ‘04 330 express with merc v8 verado 300’s. I’ve made it clear I want 4 blades. The dealer says they have it handled as far as prop selection but I’d like to be an educated consumer so what would be a good 4 blade prop for my application be?
