Well bought the 226 with 427 hours this winter. Was looking for a 282 but plans changed and for the time being a smaller boat works best for us. In a month and a half put 50 hours on her up to 477.

personal opinion I looked for the 226 and not the 228. Right away had to remove the motor and replace the bang plate. Caught it in time and now it’s sealed with no buldges or cracks. Replaced the anchor windlass rope with 8 plate 250 ft. Moved batteries to starboard side. Hooked up stereo and Bluetooth and speakers.

3m imperial compound the entire boat and then pure wax afterwards. Even the top of hard top.

been offshore a lot of fishing, bar hopping, sand bars, and tubing.

cabin is great for the 10 month old baby and women to get changed and use the porta potty which the pump out is great.

I see why these boats fetch big bucks. They have a great ride and really are an suv of the 22’ class boat. And while many cuddy cabin boats have come and gone. I see why these Grady cuddys are still around in business.

Awesome. You should have bought a 228. Lol. Just kidding. Enjoy the ride.

Sweet looking ride. As a newbie 228 owner, why did you like the 226 better? Because backing up is weird in the 228?
I went 228 because it was what my dealer had and I really like the high transom (though you have more or less the same thing if you put that foldy thingy up). I also like the bracket, makes the boat ride longer and kind of protects you a bit if you back up or have a following sea.

That said, sweet boat. I initially wanted a Fisherman 236 but it was too big to get down my road. After having the 228 for a bit, I'm sold on the cuddy cabin with the decked in bow. I've never stuffed a bow, don't want to, but if it happens, in the 226/228 it is basically a non event. That's a nice feeling if you are off shore and it gets snotty.
