What have people repowered the older 190 tournaments when going to a 4-stroke?
I recently picked up a 1984, cleaning it up and figuring out what needs to be done. So far underneath it all it looks in good shape. I was advised though to not go towards the HP limit due to the weight of the 4-stroke sitting the transom deeper down and having to possibly plug the scuppers, etc

Anyone's experience would help me decided-thank you!

Look into the newer Yamaha 4 cyl 4 strokes, They weight about the same as the older 2 strokes

The same horse power older model 6 cyl 4 strokes weigh a lot more than the 2 strokes

You will need a 20" shaft on that transom unless it's been replaced and built up.

I'd look for a 150....many options out there to choose from. Go where you can get the best deal.

Transom is original, getting the failed motor off this weekend to be able to further inspect and see if the transom needs replacement, so far it has checked out as solid.

I called Grady and asked what weight they factored this boat for, nice lady said about 400 pounds. I see the Yamaha inline 4's range around 480 pounds plus or minus 10 pounds between the F150, F175, and F200.

Prior owners appear to have put dual batteries and under the rear seats. Thinking of bringing them up to in the consoles. Anyone done this?
Would it help with the scuppers?
