So I recently acquired this boat last Saturday to be exact, she was up for auction on a salvage website I frequently watch, I placed a bid and won it so I ran down picked her up and hauled her back to my house, it was pickled after the salvage luckily the motor was only partially submerged, and it was run, she went down bow first and listed to the starboard side, I bought the trailer it was on from the original owner, and he told me about it. I got the boat for a price I couldn’t refuse. So I’m here to document my time replacing and redoing the things on her! I just ordered a whole new switch panel from new wire marine as all my breakers and switches are shot along with a new battery switch and 40 amp house breaker at the transom. But here are some pics of her

Welcome! Congrats on getting a great boat. I would check with the previous on why the boat took on water. You will want to check all thru hulls and hoses below deck, the transom and wiring as you are. Great boats, keep us posted on progress.

So I have already found the thru hulls are cracked, and some of the deck drain hoses are shot and need to be replaced, I spoke with him, I suspect a bad float switch, leaky thru hulls and a bad storm, some of the floor hatches need to be replaced and resealed, I just ran the motor for the first time today, she sounds good just idling around 950/1k

Well I just got all my stainless thru hulls and new stainless thru hull scuppers, got all the hose I will need to replace the existing, what did you guys do for the helm floor drains and the fish box drains for replacements? I found the one under the steering wheel the had a threaded 90 on it and it had become seperated, allowing water to enter the hull looking to replace them with a real 90 thru hull doesn’t have to be stainless

I used wire reinforced hose for all my thru hulls. Also, double hose clamps on all thru hulls. You can never be too safe with those!

I’ve got both the stainless scupper thru hulls installed the new bilge and the fish box and helm on the starboard side, I have the port fish box and help drain still to do! Everything was sealed with 5200, liberally applied lol, I also replaced the two deck batches at the motor well, I have to do the two for the gas tank still, and hopefully go grab the other 4 this week. Along with another 90* 1” thru hull for the helm area. Still waiting on my new switch panel from new wire it shipped, it was supposed to arrive to today but it was delayed by usps.

That black pipe actually has a pvc wire reinforcement in it, the clear is for the fish box and helm drains

Also can anyone point me in the direction of a replacement anchor light? One that will screw into the windshield or am I going to have to abandon that?

Well got my panel in, ended up having to cut out the harness connectors for the main harness and use heat shrink butt connectors as they were all corroded, and damaged! The panel was a breeze, only thing I still have to do is install my fuse panel, then the new fusion radio and helix 5, and relocate the old garmin out of the electronics box!

Well I started pumping the tank down I pumped out about 20 gals the first 3 were water, still have about 35/40 to go till she is empty, I got my helix 5 installed in the electronics box and removed the old garmin unit to move it outside the box, it still works so I figured I’ll run them and have the garmin as a back up, I also moved the fuse block and replaced it with a blue seas 12 fuse block. I’m using the accessory switch I had put in the panel to feed it the voltage it needs. And capped the old fees line to the fuse block. My vhf radio burnt up upon start up so I placed my order for the new one, and the gimble Mount I need for my fusion radio today. Hopefully they will be here during the week and I can get them installed, only thing left is to get a racor fuel water separator and the new mast light!

I've done all the above to my 228.

It is satisfying to know you did your work.

Nice job!

Yes it is that’s for sure, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m hoping to launch her for her maiden voyage this weekend! I picked up a new racor water separator and a back up filter also I pumped 20 gallons out of the tank, I’m gonna level the boat out and pump about another 10. I’m awaiting my new vhf radio should arrive tomorrow so I can get that installed and finish up the wiring to my fuse block tomorrow. I also have one more pie plate to replace on the deck. I still have the two for the fish box that need replaced but not extremely neccesary for her maiden voyage.
