Am I the only guy that is bummed they killed the 228? It's been a buzz kill for me, I haven't been hitting up this site as much. They killed my boat and I love my boat.

I know, it's silly, there is a ton of good info and good people here, I'll get over it. I'm sure Grady had their business reasons for no more 228. I just love that boat so much I wish they had figured out the price point where they made money and sold a lot of 228s.

Me: grumpy old man, get off my lawn people who don't love 226/228 :)

As you know, I have a new one coming in within 30 days, if all goes well. At first I was a little bit taken back, but at this point, I'm glad I've got it on the way. It's the biggest one to fit my slip, and easy to trailer to Florida for the winter. On top of that, I think this makes them all worth a lot more money

Gotta learn to roll with the punches guys! Your rigs will be collectors items and command 10X the list price in five years. Maybe not... But you'll still have a rare boat!

Grumpy old man me thinks that Grady could have sold a ton of those if they weren't $30K more than a 208. 2 more feet of cockpit, swim platform, and 50 more HP, seems like they stuck their finger in the pie too much. I have no idea what fiberglass costs but 2 feet of it, ok, $2K? And $2K - seems high but whatever - for the platform. And $2K for the extra 50HP. So $6K of cost, they need a markup, how about 100% and we could have had a 228 for $112 instead of $130K.

I dunno, anything over $100K seems like it is gonna be low volume but Grady has lots of boats, most of their boats are over that.

I'm just grumpy because I think the 228 is a sweet spot, big enough, small enough. Sad to see it go.

I wanted a 22 back in the 80s when I used to fish with a friend of mine, Sealyon. We finished his boat out of Cape May for the bass in the spring and fall and my 208 overnighter out of Brigantine. We took that 22 to the canyon with five or 6 5 gallon jugs and dumped the gas in as we went out. While out there, the boats would call us the Christmas tree boat because we tied the 5 gallon jugs to the rail with bungee cords. We would mug up on yellowfin tuna and run right back. That's when I was young and dumb but now I look forward to using this around the Atlantic City area with my family and taking it to Florida for the winters...

Savor the fact that you own a 228 and you're not on the outside looking in and wishing you could find one.

It doesn't bother me they dropped it, because I'll never be in the market for a $130K new one. And those of us that own one, have a very desirable boat. Just look how many people are looking for a 228 versus any other of Grady's boats. Always someone looking for a 228.

I've pretty much rebuilt mine these last 4 years and patiently waiting on Yamaha to get me a motor to finish the build. Super easy to trailer, can handle anything I'm interested in doing and looks good doing it.

Oh,the places you'll go...with a 228. Yah, I wish Grady still made it in part because I could get up to date OEM parts thus keeping her like new. She has been a great companion on the water for me and my family. I hope to get many more years and adventures out of mine that's for sure.

I don’t think it’s gone forever, but like others said - you already got one. I think GW will rebrand it at a later date. I think right now they are concentrating production resources to push volume to dealers during the hot market. They probably make 2x profit off DC/CC sales than seafarers. There’s just so much less work into the build without the installs of the cabin, and they are trying to catch the demand wave with limited manufacturing capacity.
