I have added a continuous duty high flow 12 volt blower to my generator compartment. This helps to prevent The Gen set from vapor locking. It will also allow the area to get more dry fresh air to prevent corrosion. This thing really moves some air.
I did consider a 110v blower. I just felt more at ease using a low voltage unit. I had the extra 12v breaker on the panel right above the other blower switch.
Im pumping air out of the space thru the transom. air comes in thru the 2 factory vents by the transom door and all the other openings under the gunwales like the holes for mop handles etc.
It cools the space really fast. I am going to put a timer switch on it so I can leave it run 30 to 60 minutes after I shut the gen down.
Success! We ran the generator for hours and hours this weekend and we had no vapor locks. I left the New high flow blower running when ever the Gen was running. Then I left it run for 45 minute to an hour after I shut it down. Works like a charm. I think it will keep the whole area dryer too which is always good with a generator.
