I’m looking at adding a dual throttle control to a 2006 Seafarer. Will this work? Has anyone done it? I currently runs tiller and want to switch to a separate control. Will this work on a 2023 Yamaha 9.9 HT and 2006 Yamaha 4 stroke 250?

My friend has 1 on a 228 early 90's here in WA...Same setup..250 and a 9.9 High Thrust. He likes it.

Just to clarify, I currently have a kicker already on it but has the tiller handle. I am just considering going away from the tiller. Wondering if the dual binnacle would work on the 228.

thanks

Yes, I have it on my 208 with an F200 and T8 kicker, works great and have always had a remote on my kicker and no tiller. Added iTroll a few years ago which takes trolling to another level.

Any chance you have a picture of the dual control

I have an alternative for you that might be cheaper (but way less cool!) Check out: https://www.controllking.com/
I have one of those, I got it because my friend who got my hardtop has one. We fish with each other and I loved his control so I got one as well.

What it is: a box that goes at your helm with some switches to turn it on, go to idle, etc. And a dial that controls a servo that physically moves your throttle. It's much more sensitive than your tiller, you can move your speed by fractions of a MPH. My tiller tends to vibrate down to slower speeds, this does not do that. It's $300 and the guy who makes them stands behind them. Peter's has crapped out a couple of times, I'm sure it is the salt, mine has been fine.

Just a thought, let me know if you want pictures.

I appreciate the info. Like I said I have the tiller currently. What I should have said is that I don’t like the handle of the tiller because it’s always in the way. I currently run a Garmin autopilot on the kicker and I can adjust the speed to exactly what I need. It’s the fact the tiller handle is always in the way.

Why not tighten up the nut that lets the tiller swing up and swing it up out of the way? That's what I did.

This shows my somewhat cluttered helm, but it is my clutter!

This is what my dual binnacle looks like on my 228 from a couple angles
