Hi Folks Iam newbie here.
Is anyone has any experience with a 97 adventure 208 with Yamaha 225 4 stroke?
It is 80 pounds heavier then a 225 two stroke what they maximum hp upgrade.
YOU guys think this boat can handle that?

Short answer is “yes” though you might want to add a couple hundred pounds of ballast near the portapotty area to offset the weight of the engine; I recall reading here that 2006+ 208s have a heavier hull to account for the increased 4 stroke engine weight. I have a 2005 208 with a 2013 Suzuki 250 and it balances great with a little weight in the aforementioned area.

I am not sure what you said about rating but I don't think that hull is rated for 225 HP. I don't think my 208 is and it's a 2001 model. I never recommend that a boat be overpowered.

Max hp is 230 for the 1997 model year. No idea where that figure came from other than twin 115 2-strokes (only the 226 had that, right?)

Max hp was increased in 2007 likely due to the availability of 250 hp 4-stroke engines.

Obviously the manuals are not going to include information pertaining to anything being strengthened to account for the 25 hp max rating increase. You’d have to talk to your own insurance company to see what their stance on going over by 25 hp is. Seems like a lot of folks with the bigger boats (Canyon 306) overpower them frequently so YMMV.

I don't think it's a power or torque thing ,it's just a weight thing.

I was day dreaming today looking at Marlins. I came across one repowered with the monster 425 xs..That motor weighs a 1/2 ton and they repowered a Marlin with 2 of them! That's 2,000 pounds on that transom designed for 1,200. No way do I consider buying that boat. I don't think 25 hp more is a deal breaker here . it will be stern heavy though.

Boat would be well suited for star gazing.
