Anchor Locker weather stripping?

Just curious - I am trying to limit the amount of water that sits in the bottom of my boat, too low to flow to the rear bilge at rest.
I think it is coming from the anchor locker when I wash the boat. Has anyone ever used weather stripping to better seal that anchor hatch? Is that a crazy idea?
Any other solutions?
Boat is a 208 Adventure.

I used it for my cabin hatch on my 24. Works great. I have the flat rubber with grooves style. 3/4 in wide maybe 3/8 thick. Compressed nicely.
