Another Year in the Books

Brought the boat in for winter layup today. It was nice and calm on the water given all the weather we have been having and getting power back after two days from the bomb cyclone or whatever they are calling it. A few boats broke from their moorings in the Boston areas but where I was it was a non event. A sheltered harbor that really restricts wave impact is a blessing.
Got about 1/2 the pre-winterization work done, need to finish before she is wrapped and put away until spring. Will be finishing up over the next week or so and looking forward to snow and the events that come with it.

I am right behind you. I need to be out of my slip October 31st. Really enjoyed our fist year on the water.

I am trying to hold out until around thanksgiving. But will depend on temp.

I had two great rides this weekend, and will pull her in couple weeks. Trying to rid most of my gas in the tanks (70+ to go) so hopefully will get a run or two in. The more time I get on this boat, the better I like it.....took some time to master the trim and ride in the chop....getting it now.

Went out the Manasquan Inlet and did a little fishing on Saturday. Officially put up the full enclosure on the boat for the first time so you know winter is coming. Hoping to be in until right after Thanksgiving but we will see what the weather has to say about that.

It was a slow year boating for us, weather seemed against us for almost every attempted outing, and finances were tight enough that I sometimes couldn't justify a 350.00 fill up. I had a slow year for work which allowed many free weekdays to go out, but usually nobody was free to go with me. I'm not a fan of launching and using the boat by myself. But all was not negative, the old girl performed flawless when called upon and just continued to amaze me with its performance and versatility. For the coming year I plan on replacing through hole drains, both tachs, and giving the top side a good polish and wax job. The two old original Johnson 140 loopers continue to provide impressive performance while guzzling massive amounts of fuel. Very pleased to have picked up a nice cover for it, this should help the 33 year old 226 look great for many more years.

I pulled my 226 a few weeks ago, working on replacing the Seastar steering seals now. Going to try and get her out in the Long Island sound once or twice for Taug.

What do you guys do to winterize?

All you guys need to do is drive down to Texas and you can go out on my Grady while yours is winterized! lol
