Any issues with isolating the bilge?

I can't remember where I read someone doing this but I thought it was a pretty good idea. Isolating the forward and rear bilge from the two fuel tank sumps. Eliminating any water from running up and down the bottom of my fuel tank, and from getting anywhere near my batteries.

Is there any reason not to do this? Glass in a new larger piece of PVC tube connecting the rear most, and forward most bilge in the cuddy. Then glassing in another tube from the forward sump to the rear bilge and rear sump to rear bilge. Then keeping a plug in both of those tubes in the rear bilge to prevent water from reaching them. This way if any water somehow does make it to either sump bilge, you can manually drain them if you'd like.

Only thing I can think of is the tube getting plugged up, but if you use a decent sized tube and clear it every so often can't see it being much of a problem. My original PVC in the boat is loose anyway so I figured its a good time to do this.

i'm not sure where you are going with this. are you isolating the bilge area where the fuel tank(s) is(are)? if so, how do you drain them out.

other than that, i wouldn't want my bilge compartmentalized to the point i have to mess with opening gateways if i start shipping water. but that's just me. good luck, ron

Basically what I'm trying to do is isolate the two sections where the fuel tanks go from the forward and rear bilge. Currently my boat has all 4 sections common with each other (rear bilge, rear tank area, forward tank area, and forward bilge). Not sure if they are all like this.

I want to run a new larger diameter piece of PVC from the rear bilge to the forward most bilge. Then I want to run two more seperate tubes of PVC. One joining the rear bilge to the rear tank area, and one joining the rear bilge to the forward tank area. I want to put removable plugs in the two pieces of PVC that drain the forward and rear tank areas. This will prevent the water leftover that the pump won't be able to remove from making its way to either fuel tank compartment.

Essentially hoping the only areas that will have water would be the forward and rear bilge when underway to prevent water from going back and forth under the fuel tank. But you will still be able to remove the two plugs and drain the fuel tank compartments if water should ever end up accumulating through there (through inspection plates on the hatches etc). In a perfect world it shouldn't but from my experience water ends up accumulating in areas no matter what.
