Just pinging this group, anyone been fishing? I've made 3 trips on my boat this year, 1 rockfish and 2 tuna.
Only bonita and rockfish to show for my efforts, no bluefin yet. I hope to get out this weekend, considering fishing below the border.

It's early in the season... go south! Best bet is below the 371, 425, and 101 spots. Even a few yellowfin showing up in the mix.

yep - that's the current plan. Weather looks decent on Saturday. Action is not consistent and this year is very different than the last few years.

Well, it was a bust for us. We caught one bonita.
We found the fish out by the 230 area, we trolled and long soaked , we just could not get them to go.
They are not as active as last few years, a few single jumpers here and there but not the foamers we have seen in past years.
A friend of mine did get one on a madmac and 2 on bait the same morning.
Unfortunately, I wont get out for another 2 weeks.

I’m out of marina del rey. We are planning to hit the backside of cat and mackerel bank this week. The bf are there now.

I'm out of Oside, but I think I may head south to Mexican waters. I'll keep an eye on reports and make a game day decision. I'll try to update this thread.
My boat name is Pau Hana and I am usually on 68 or 72.

Same here BRO. I'm on a trailer in Carlsbad as well. Beautiful boat BTW!

I'm hoping to get out this weekend, I'll trailer down to SD and may hit the spots in Mexico. I'm not sure I have the comfortable range to fish the backside of Catalina. Hit me up if you want to buddy boat anytime.

Well, that was a bust. I trolled around the 209, 267 area all for nada. Lots and lots of big kelp spread around with no fish. next time!

Not much activity in the West Coast? Let's fire up this the west coast. Blue fin are not too far from the backside of Catalina. Tons of squid right in front of Marina del Rey. Did anyone else get on the halibut bite at the Channel Islands a couple weeks ago? Lets buddy boat. My boat is on a trailer and goes where the bite is. Usually launch out of Channel Island harbor, but can go anywhere.

Im a little further north but hope you can get a floatilla out there!!

Wish I could join you, I'm out of pocket for the next 2 weekends. Backside of Cat may be out of reach for my Adventure 208 though, long boat ride on a 20 footer. I'm also on a trailer, typically launch out of Oceanside or San Diego.
