I TOOK MY BOAT IN FOR A MAINTENACE CHECK AND INDICATED THAT I HAD A SLIGHT OVERHEAT PROBLEM AT LOW RPM AND I HAD NOTICED BUT DID NOT MENTION TO THE DEALER THAT I HAD SEEN LOW RPM AT FULL POWER 4600 RPM AT FULL THROTTLE.
I WAS TOLD TODAY BY MY DEALER THAT #1 CYL WAS GOUGED AND NEEDED REPAIR. I HAVE IT ON MY 1998 GULFSTREAM. I AM TORN AS TO WHAT COURSE TO TAKE. REPLACE POWER HEAD, COMPLETE REBUILD OR REPLACE MOTOR. IF I REPAIRED WHAT LIFE SPAN SHOULD I EXPECT?
I WOULD PREFER TO REPAIR AT A LOWER PRICE ALTHOUGH I DO NOT HAVE A ESTIMATE YET (WILL KNOW TOMORROW). DOES ANYONE HAVE A "WAG" AS TO THE COST. FOR ANY OF THIS SERVICE
IF I REPLACE THE MOTOR SHOULD I GO WITH A YAMAHA 250 4 STROKE OR LOOK AT THE SUZIKI 300 HP. I KNOW YAMAHA HAS THE NEW 300 BUT THE PRICES I HAVE SEEN MAKE IT UNREASONABLE UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN OUT A FEW YEARS.
