Close enough. About 5k. It’s very nice but that’s an autopilot with significant change.
Not having a bait/lure rigging station is the one disappointment I have with the 228. Any real fishing boat needs a bait rigging station. A cutting board on the live bait tank lid doesn’t really cut it. It’s strange Grady don’t offer it as a factory option.

What's wrong with using a bait table like the Magma and the likes? Alot cheaper than $5k and easier to store. Mine can be located either side in a rod holder and the mess washed off out of the boat.

No offense to folks, but I cannot understand paying that much for a freaking bait table.. heh.. sure, if you have money to burn, but wow.. seems a bit extravagant... to each their own, but that could really upgrade something nice on the boat.. hrm.. now, if I already had everything else I needed, eh.. guess it would be fine.. but hard to get momma to agree.. lol If I had that kinda cash, I'd have my 33 Express already

The bait station my dad made on his 208. Bent up some SS and everything drips into motor well and then just use the wash down to have it drain out the scuppers.

Very creative.Is the motor still able to be tilted all the way up? Do you have to remove the table or is it out of the way?

Not sure, the bait board is on a rail mount that quickly comes off at the end of the day and stored in his dock box. I kno the frame work is on a quick disconnect pin but can stay up with the motor up. From this pic looks like there is plenty of room to tilt the motor up.

This is my set up, happy with it and only costs a couple hundred $ for the lot. Bermuda board , drink holders and rod holders ( I don't use the rod holders). $5 k paid for my Simrad Evo 3 and Ikw transducer!

I use it for rigging dead baits or changing hooks on lures while trolling 4+ rods so no spare rod holders.

I also am very interested in building a dedicated bait/work station with a drawer. I like the one above but it doesn't look like it's positioned right for ergonotics. Has 4 legs but you'd still have to reach out pretty far over the existing rod holders to use it. The australian one seems to have the right over hang on the 228's livewell. Though his is not really usable as a fillet table, more of a bait table. I know he's not gonna fillet his swordfish on the boat anyway!

Trust me once you've seen the setups our local welded aluminum fish boats have you'll be jealous.

So, I think this cool but it would be cooler if you could lower it flush with the gunwhales and raise it when you need it. Sometimes I have to work a fish behind the motor to one side or the other .I just want the space back there uncluttered because when the dolphin is running behind there I just want it clean. I can't real explain it because I never have brought a fish in over the stern . Maybe it's just psychological? Nice looking 228

Miller Marine has brackets that you could lower it up/down with their dog bones. Not cheap but reasonable for the quality.

The big question is, do I drill 2 big 2" holes for 0 degree rod holders to mount the new table???

Option 1. Mount table legs in 2 0 degree rod holders in back of transom

Pros

-table would be removable​

-2 more rod holders when removed​

Cons

-2 big holes to drill
-Maybe not stable​

- more stuff to buy (rod holders)​

Option 2. Mount on a plate like the expensive Aussie one. (My father can weld aluminum)

-No big holes to drill​
