I replaced the forward pump a couple of years ago, it was quite smaller than the previous pump with a greater capacity. I was a bit skeptical based on size, but am impressed at how well it works.
I decided to change the aft pump this year, it was a 1700 gph. I wanted to stay with the same exit hose diameter to make it easier. I found the exact pump (brand and capacity) and it too is much smaller.
Curious if folks noticed this? I'm thinking it is technology advances for the improvement. Thoughts?

My guess is the "pump" is the same size, and all of the other components have gotten smaller.

Depending on how old the old pumps were, yes technology has changed and would mean a smaller package for the same ratings
