I need to move a boat from Virginia to Seattle and am having a difficult time finding someone to do it. Uship seems to give a bunch of random inquiries but how do I know how reliable they are? Has anyone done a similar move that can recommend a shipper?

I shipped my grady from NJ to Blaine, WA using a shipper I found via uShip. They were called ShipNewEngland and were really great. They picked up the boat on time, dropped it off on time, were really friendly and stayed in email/phone contact at least daily. When I picked a shipper I was really careful about reading about their past shipments, insurance coverage and feedback. Plus I asked prospective shippers tons of questions via uShips messaging system. Bad shippers and scams can happen no matter how you book your shipper, but from my perspective, at least with uShip you get a bunch of information that mitigates your risk...

Call Jim Burrell Transport. Cell is 772-538-5329 I just had him pull a Seafarer from NC to ME. I have also used him years past for a small Grady from Baltimore to Maine, and he moved a big piece of farm machinery for me from IL to ME. Hes a great guy, and careful. He usually gets 1.50 per mile, but you can work that out with him. I know he regularly moves gradys from baltimore to vancouver area.

Quality Drive-Away

I just engaged Quality Drive-Away to trailer my 270 Islander from Florida to Minnesota. The office was great to deal with, prompt, no nonsense and pleasant. The boat was picked up on Monday (on just three days' notice from me), on time, with a phone call in advance to confirm to the marina that the driver would be there for the pick-up in one hour. I changed the destination within the same city yesterday--no problem or price adjustment in doing so. The boat will be delivered today. Absent some catastrophe of Quality's doing between yesterday afternoon and today's delivery, I give them a very high recommendation. Plus, their price was very competitive.
