I want to set my 95 V6 175HP 2 stroke timing and need to do the spark plug drop measurement to set TDC.

I'm looking at a Mitutoyo indicator, but I can't seem to find an appropriate 14mm thread adapter, and I'm not sure if I need an extension rod.

Can anyone point me to what I need to go with the Mitutoyo 8mm dial indicator to set my timing?

Thanks,

T.

I would try SIM Marine or one of the other engine/parts sponsors. Not that you won't get an answer here but it's kinda like open heart surgery - go to a specialist.

I would get a 14 mm bolt and drill a whole threw it the size if the indicator housing. Then maybe a 4-40 set screw to hold it. Done. Or get a old spark plug and knock the electrode out.

I ended up finding a Fowler gauge that came with a 14mm threaded adapter with a set screw. It's not the gauge I'd have bought otherwise, but it's good enough and I never found the adapter separately.
