Well I just bought a 2001 226 with a 200hp OX66. Super clean boat, looks like it's a season old. Garaged and used in freshwater since '07. I don't actually pick it up until next weekend, but here are pics of the test ride.

My 2.5 year old supervising the operation:

Boat looks incredibly good. When they are kept that nice, garaged or not, it's a fair indicator that it was maintained properly also. Not to mention the freshwater factor.
Looks like a smart purchase to me...Before long when you launch, the weather will be warm.

I figured it was a good boat when I asked for the list of products he uses on the boat- and the brand of tire shine for the trailer tires was on there. Seriously, who shines trailer tires? And polishes the trailer fenders? I'm ashamed to admit I won't treat it as delicate as he did, but it will be well cared for.

Your right; I've never heard of anyone shining tires and fenders on trailers..Heck, if he had that attitude, just think of the potential that Yamaha has for a long life. I hear those OX66's are bullet-proof anyway. Enjoy the boat.

I noticed how nice the trailer looked. When my kids were little the WAC platform worked great giving them somewhere to get out of the elements, nap and play video games. Not to mention a private place for the wife and daughter to go potty. My old Parker 21 WAC had a 200 OX-66 and it's a stout engine that always started at the first turn of the key. Good luck with it!! :bang

Great Buy! You and your boy will make many memories on her. I often here the phrase a boat is a hole in the water in which you pour money into, yet I have never felt that way. So many life lessons can be taught on the water. The days fishing, exploring and seeing wildlife are days of educating in the wilds. My youngest loves searching for reptiles and amphibians and in large part because we live in salamander central and with our boat we go places many cant around here. Because of that he is interested in science and biology, who knows he could one day pursue medicine or be a vet or world reknown herpatologist? Either way, our Grady plays a big role in these moments. For us it is investment in our kids and their futures as much as it is about having fun. You never know what door opens in a kid's head when he is on the water. Congrats again and it is very nice boat.
