Are you referring to the pin latch sockets for the fold engine well door?

Could you use a barrell latch? It would be more secure in pounding seas. But I honetly don't know if the existing type of latch is/isn't secure enough to start with.

Yes, you can use a barrell latch, but they have no give if they go through the glass on the sides. Sooner or later, someone's not paying attention when they raise the motor, and you end up with a busted wave gate, or motor cowling.

Ah, that makes sense why a "temporary" latch type thing is used. Good point.
