Can you name the different models?

Okay, one of the hardest things about looking for a Grady is knowing the different models. Let me explain, and maybe someone smarter than me knows which ones and why etc have the one thing I am looking for.. lol

The Sailfish 282 has the head as a separate closet/room, right?

The 258 has a porta potty, but it is under the seat in the berth.

The head having it's own room is the feature my daughter loves the most.

Ruh roh....forgot.. my son...

My son LOVES the berth that is below the steps going down... i.e. the 2nd berth.

So, in looking at the Islander, it has both of these.

ME.. I like dual engines....heh

So, I do not think the Islander has the 2nd berth, does it?

I know it has the separate head... and that would, really, be more than enough....

Anyone know what models smaller than the 282 that have that...and are like the Islander, 8'6" beam?

gulfstream 232 is the next one down but it is 9'3" beam - no enclosed head
seafarer 228/226 is the next one down 8' beam - no enclosed head but can close off the cabin
tournament 225 8' beam - enclosed head - no cabin dual console
adventurer 208 8'1" beam - no enclosed head but can close off the cabin
tournament 205 8'1" beam - enclosed head - no cabin dual console

only walks with head that is enclosed in the cabin are the 282 sailfish, 2900 Chesapeak and 300 marlin.
several center consoles have the enclosed head like the dual consoles as well.

Okay, so that confirms the only beam that does not require a permit in Texas with a stand up head is the Islander.

That helps, thanks. I think the Islander has everything we want without the permit needs, except the aft berth but that is totally ok.

The sailfish was great, just too dang heavy and way too close to my max towing.
Was an awesome price though heh.

Sailfish 272/282 was smallest with midship berth. Islander never had midship berth.

Islander had separate, stand up head compartment, with shower.

Don't know of any GW with midship berth and beam under 9-6, i.e. Sailfish.

Yes, I think, had I found a good solid 2001 - 2004 Islander like the one I wanted, I would have jumped on it no matter the cost. My option was a solid Islander, for a little over my max budget, or a solid and super clean Sailfish for half my budget... the choice just seemed obvious, given the only 206lbs difference in the two.

lol, I downloaded every brochure from 1996 to 2013.. lol.. That was where I discovered that GW had to have made a technical change in it's manufacturing process because they started changing ALL the boats around 2005 and adding about 1k lbs to each.. heh
