I am looking at a Chase with twin F250s. there are a couple engine / fuel issues that are being taken care of (did not hit speed or rpm on sea trial). That being said, the props on it are marked 23-M. Is this boat over propped? the yamaha bulletin for the same boat with 225s has a 19 pitch prop.

thanks

I would say that you are way over propped. Have your mechanic do a print out of the ECM history, and you will get hours run at every rpm range by thousands. You will see if it has ever run in the correct range, and how many hours, or whether it has been over propped its entire life.

bump...i ended up buying the boat. i am curious what other chase owners are running for props, ideally with 250s. i called grady and they told me that boat with 250s comes with 19 pitch. its currently running about 5300 rpm with what i believe is the 23".

any insight regarding whether this boat would benifit from a bit of stern lift? would 4 blade 17" props a good start?

fyi, i do plan to call ken at prop gods. just looking for personal experience as well.

thanks all
