I just found out when doing a registration renew, that my 240 offshore has been coast guard documented, and I had to reactivate that also, then nc was able to also renew my state registration. luckily I was able to do that over the phone. Now my question is that I cannot find where the documentation number was affixed to my boat. Anyone have any ideas. I may have to redo them to be sure. Thanks

They are usually routed into or affixed to a part of the hull structure. They must be placed in a manner where it would be obvious if they were removed. I used 4" vinyl letters and then coated them 5 minute epoxy. They are on the one of the sister ribs that can be seen through the a rear access hatch.

BTW: An NC registration is NOT required if you are a documented vessel.

Same here. I had a documented 29 Blackfin for 6 years; no requirement for state registration, so no numbers displayed on the outside of the vessel. But, you must have the documented vessel name and hailing port displayed on the transom, in a specified minumum sized lettering. You cannot rename the documented vessel without going through the re-documentation procedure.

I have my vessel same on both sides of the boat and the port on the stern. My permanent numbers are inside the hull in the compartment that houses the washdown and livewell pumps in the rear of the boat. They are black registration stick on number with a couple of coats of Polyurethane over them. I have been boarded by the CG for saftey checks several times and never an issue
